CCRC - FCCCPC Updates & Letter of Thanks
Hello Brothers and Sisters, I am sure you have already heard from Bro. Don about the forthcoming Second Canadian National Charismatic Conference (SCNCC), which is sponsored by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Council (CCRC) in Toronto. Deacon Carlos Nogueira, who is the Archbishop’s Liaison to the CCRC is overseeing this initiative. During the election for the positions of Executive Committee Chair and Co-Chair of this Conference, our FCCCPC Head Servant, Bro. Don, was elected as Co-Chair. The Co-Chair has the same authority and power as the Chair. Bro. Don was also mandated to be a member of the CCRC, representing FCCCPC and the Filipino Community as a whole. I was appointed as Assistant Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Second Conference. FCCCPC, being the umbrella organization of Filipino Charismatic Communities, is given the privilege of having assistants, who may attend the CCRC executive meetings with, or on behalf of, the FCCCPC representative to CCRC. This privilege is also being extended to other zones / prayer groups whose representatives cannot attend each and every meeting of CCRC. As earlier announced, Bro. Ric and I were appointed as FCCCPC Liaison to ATCR. However, it was clarified that CCRC now replaces ATCR. Deacon Carlos Nogueira confirmed that we, Bro. Ric and I may attend the CCRC executive meetings as Assistants to the FCCCPC/Filipino representative to the CCRC. One of our responsibilities as Assistants, is to update the FCCCPC prayer group members on the various initiatives undertaken by CCRC. Last Monday, (January 12, 2009) during the SCNCC meeting, the Conference Secretary read the letter of resignation from the elected Chair, Larry Dean. The reason conveyed was the more pressing demand of his time from his new position to which he has just been promoted. Statements were put forward by Deacon Carlos and those who served during the First Canadian National Charismatic Conference, on the positive contribution of Larry Dean to the success of the first conference, of which he was also the Chair. It was deliberated on and decided upon by the organizing team that the vacated position will no longer be filled up. Instead, an Assistant Chair position was created and duly filled up. The Assistant Chair is Sharon Garlow, who is the concurrent Secretary of the Executive Committee. She also served as the Executive Committee Secretary of the first conference. Bro. Don pushed for Deacon Carlos to head the Executive Committee. However, Deacon Carlos explained that due to his position as the Archbishop’s Liaison to the CCRC, which strictly prohibits him from assuming any position neither in CCRC nor in any of its initiatives, he cannot. Deacon Carlos further explained that to assume the position suggested by Bro. Don, he needs special permission from the Archbishop to do so, and if the Committee chooses to go that route, much valuable time will be lost in waiting for the decision. It was settled then that Bro. Don, who was elected as Co-Chair, with the same authority and power as that of the Chair, is now the Chairman and head of the Executive Committee of the Second Canadian National Charismatic Conference (June 26, 27 & 28, 2009). During the planning session in November of 2008, the Board of Directors of FCCCPC already agreed that no other activities will be held on these dates so that FCCCPC will be able to give its full support to this conference. The theme of the conference is: Jesus, The First Fruits. We are confident and have faith that everybody will benefit spiritually by attending this conference, which will have excellent and powerful speakers. Bro. Ric and I, along with other members of FCCCPC, have been encouraged by Bro. Don and Deacon Bob to attend the meetings of the organizing team of the Second Canadian National Charismatic Conference, with the end in view of helping put into motion, initiatives necessary to carry out God’s plan for this Conference. In the selection process of Lead Servant/s or Coordinators for each committee, Bro. Ric and I were given the assignment to be in-charge of the Committee on Ethnic Workshops and General Workshop. Since we also represent FCCCPC, it means that this Committee is also an assignment of FCCCPC. Yes, Brothers and Sisters, we need the help of the Community. We need volunteers to work with us in this Committee. To those who are prompted by the Holy Spirit to help, please give us a call at 905.232.2320 or email us at terigutierrez@yahoo.ca. Your proactive participation in this Committee, along with your ideas, are very much welcome and will be very much appreciated. We need your input to our Action Plan which will be submitted in the next meeting of the organizing team which has been re-scheduled to Monday, February 9, 2009, Another Committee which was assigned to FCCCPC is the Medical Service. The organizing team agreed to request Sis. Jeanette Rosales to be its Lead Servant or Coordinator. Bro. Don conveyed the official request of the organizing team to Sis. Jeanette and Bro. Don reported to the group that Sis. Jeanette signified her enthusiasm to be of service to the Lord in the capacity as Coordinator of the Medical Service. Again, we need the help and participation of the FCCCPC Community on this. Sis Jeanette will soon be communicating to the Community about this assignment. CCRC is requiring its prayer group members, which of course includes FCCCPC, to submit a list of the prayer groups / communities under each prayer group umbrella organization or zone. The list should reflect the names, mailing and email addresses, as well as the telephone numbers of the contact person/s of each prayer group. CCRC also needs to know the day and time of the prayer meetings of each prayer group/communities, where (what church ?) the meetings are held, as well as the name of their respective Spiritual Directors. CCRC needs the list so that it can disseminate important events and information to the prayer groups, through their designated contact person/s. It will also enable CCRC to give relevant information to those who inquire and want to join prayer groups in certain localities. Bro. Don informed me that the info required by CCRC from the prayer groups are actually on the FCCCPC website. I have, therefore, prepared the list, using the info from the website, as submitted by the respective prayer groups. I have contacted some of you by phone and by email, for information that have not been provided in the website, some of which have not been responded to. Please send to me the info required at your earliest convenience. Kindly disseminate the info or forward this email to the members of your respective prayer groups and please put the Second Conference (June 26, 27 & 28, 2009) on your calendars, if you have not yet done so. On June 29, 2009, there will also be a conference for the clergy. Pertinent details on the Second Conference will be reflected on the Flyers which will be distributed soon. Thank you and God Bless, Sis. Teri Gutierrez Assistant to the FCCCPC Representative to CCRC 905.232.2320 |
