Obedience a Christian Virtue - An Essential Part of the Christian Life
We praise Mary's the Mother of God as the God bearer and a vessel of grace. We honor Mary for her obedience and the fruit that it bore. Let us, like Mary, become vessels of grace. This can happen as we persevere in obedience to the command of God and as we strive to remain obedient to the Holy Spirit. God wants to be doers of His words that all works with for him as he transforms our lives. As we submit to Him, let us remember that his goal is that everyone who encounters us may come to see the life of God shining from within!
The story of Abraham's ability to hope in God can serve as a blueprint for us. Abraham was already seventy-five years old and childless, when God first promised to make him the father of a great nation. By the time he was ninety-nine, he continued to trust in God, and get the promise. Even when all physical evidence stood against good's word, Abraham held onto his obedience and was rewarded.
Time may change, but God has not changed, and neither has his plan. In faith, Abraham has obtained the promise. Jesus's death has opened the way for us to enter God's presence from sin. We have every reason to persevere.
God doesn't force anyone into a relationship. He will try to try again to kindle trust and acceptance within us, and even when we have walked away countless times, He will still love us and eagerly waiting for us to embrace Him. That acceptance is adoption. Through it God full accepts us as a family, and we fully accepted Him as our Father.
If we want to become disciples, we need to to obey by walking with the holy spirit. He will teach us how to appreciate and rejoice in the wonderful gifts. God has given us without falling to pride, and arrogance or lording ourselves love other people.
